X Factor's Nicole Scherzinger Apologises For 'Effing' As James Arthur Has To Sing For Survival

Last night's X Factor caused quite a stir, resulting in favourite Ella Henderson getting booted off the show and it seems like the excitement of the whole thing got a little too much for judge Nicole Scherzinger, as she's now issued an apology for her use of the word 'effing' during last night's (November 18) results show.

Nicole's act James Arthur was up against Tulisa's act Ella Henderson, both of which were favourites for the final. But it seems like everything just got a little too much for Nicole, who introduced James as 'the effing brilliant James Arthur'.

On The Xtra Factor, Olly Murs and Caroline Flack apologised to viewers who may have been offended by Scherzinger's choice of language and the American judge also commented on her passionate choice of phrase.

"I'm so sorry. You spend every day with these people, you spend so much time with them. Ella [Henderson] was the last female in the competition. I was passionate about her as well as James Arthur, who is one of the greatest human talents ever. "I'm so sorry for my 'effing'."

Arthur survived the sing-off after the judges sent the decision to Deadlock and the public vote decided the final result.

Having made the decision to save her act, Nicole described the bottom two result as a "great tragedy", saying: "No matter what happens today it will be a great tragedy for this show because you two are the most talented people to grace this stage."

Directing her comment to Ella, Nicole added: "You are meant for the stars my love, I have no worries about you", before sticking by her act James, saying: "But I've got to go with my boy."

With the drama of the result still unraveling, Nicole wa! s spotted heading out to dinner with her fellow mentor Louis Walsh. Whilst her act, James had been saved for another week, there was no denying that the 'Don't Hold Your Breath' hitmaker looked a bit down as she failed to raise a smile for the paparazzi.
