Nicole Scherzinger found out about her gran's passing at the weekend
Nicole Scherzinger fought back tears on Saturday night's X Factor after being informed of the death of her grandmother.
Grieving Nicole, 34, put on a brave face as she appeared alongside fellow judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh to support her three remaining acts - Jahmene Douglas, James Arthur and Rylan Clark.
But the fomer Pussycat Doll broke down during District3's moving performance of Tears In Heaven.
'She was devastated over her gran,' says a source.
'Her first instinct was to rush home, but she made a commitment to those boys and her family assured her she could fly on Monday.'
Nicole has now jetted out of the UK with her F1 driver boyfriend Lewis Hamilton.
'Lewis and I are a team,' Nicole tells The Sun. 'We're really there for each other.'
