Nicole Scherzinger: 'Russell Wanted To Make A Difference'
15:30, Thursday, 7 March 2013
Nicole Scherzinger has praised Russell Brand for organising the Give It Up for Comic Relief gig last night (March 6) - stating he wanted to make a difference after friend Amy Winehouse's death.
The concert - which was held at Wembley Arena to raise money for those affected by drug and alcohol addiction - saw Brand recruit the likes of Scherzy, Jessie J and Noel Gallagher to perform for the cause.
Russell was good friends with Winehouse before her untimely death in July 2011, previously describing her as "a f**king genius" in his heartfelt tribute to the star.
When MTV News caught up with Nicole on the red carpet of the star-studded event, she exclusively told us she was more than happy to help Brand out.
Scherzinger told us: "I think it's really super cool that he started this up having gone through the same problems and issues himself.
"Ever since Amy Winehouse passed away, he wanted to make a difference. I love that he's doing this and I'm really happy to be here to support."
When asked if she knew of Brand's womanising ways, the Boomerang singer said: "No, I actually haven't met him yet!", adding that she had no plans to hang out with the funnyman after the show, stating: "I'm just here for the cause and I've got a long week of work still ahead of me."
During our chat with Nicole, we probed the star over whether she would be making a return to The X Factor judging panel, to which she replied: "I definitely fancy the idea I had a great time last year that's for sure."
