Nicole Scherzinger Thinks Being 'More Slutty' Could Help Her Career

Nicole Scherzinger rose to fame as the leader of the burlesque-inspired girl group the Pussycat Dolls, whose most successful single centered on the argument that they were all hotter than your girlfriend. But a recent interview with The Independent Scherzinger explains she was never cut out for the Pussycat Doll image, which may come as a detriment to her solo career and upcoming album.
"With these kind of songs, I don't feel I have to justify myself to anyone. I come from the most religious family - my grandfather is a priest - and if they support me in all this, and they do, then I'm OK," she told the magazine. "I'm being sassy and classy; I'm having fun. I'm not coming from a dark place. To be honest with you, I sometimes wish I were more slutty. I'd probably be a lot more successful if I were."
Scherzinger's reluctance to amp up the sex appeal to Pussycat levels probably comes from her early musical roots. "I was in this great acoustic goth band, and I was also studying theatre and music at college," Scherzinger revealed. "I wanted to be on Broadway. But [my mom] just kind of pushed me out the door anyway, and insisted I go [try out for the girl group]."
Nicole Scherzinger's new single "Boomerang" is released today. Her second album is released later this year.
