Nicole Scherzinger's recent revelation that she was originally offered the female lead in the Black Eyes Peas is merely another addition to her roller coaster career, during which at her lowest she fronted failed girlband Eden's Crush and later had her first solo album shelved. At its peaks, she's enjoyed worldwide success with the Pussycat Dolls, scored a solo number one single in the UK in 2011, and last year became the nation's favourite X Factor judge.
As the title of h! er latest single suggests, the lyrics in 'Boomerang' are all about her ability to always turn things around for the better. "You can turn me down, you can throw me now/ The harder out, the harder I come back around," she sings with wide-eyed determination over a fuzzy, club-friendly beat courtesy of will.i.am - who for once supplies a relatively pop-by-numbers melody that grows on the ears. The metaphor's not without its confusing moments, but that's exactly what makes her so endearing.
