New York, Dec 12 : Nicole Scherzinger, who is facing backlash for her public meltdown on US The X Factor last week, insists that she did not intend for her role on the show to become a sob story.

The 33-year-old singer also received a flood of angry messages from the shows fans after she fumbled a critical call, failing to make the decisive vote between contestants Marcus Canty and Rachel Crow.

The former Pussycat Dolls member was terrified as the final decision fell to her, and she ended up forcing the competition into a deadlock because she couldnt make the call.

In the end, 13-year-old Rachel Crow was eliminated, leaving both she and Scherzinger sobbing, and the audience booed the judge as Crow cried onstage.

My heart comes from the right place so I get really sensitive when people are negative, the New York Daily News quoted Scherzinger as telling People magazine.

Im like, Dont they know I only want the best for every single person? ...I want them to be the best they can be. Ultimately America made the choice, she said.

The judge, who had previously also received death threats after she and Paula Abdul eliminated contestant Drew Ryniewicz, was especially torn up over her decision after seeing the look on Crows face.

When I saw that look on her face (I felt) that I let her down, like I dropped her.

I could have been holding on and I dropped her. She is the sunshine of our show, so its hard to see her cry, she added. (ANI)
