Nicole Scherzinger: 'I didn't get warmest X Factor reception'

Nicole Scherzinger has said that she did not get the warmest reception when she first joined The X Factor in the UK.

The Pussycat Dolls singer was a guest judge on the 2010 series of the talent competition, helping to assemble One Direction, before joining the US port in 2011 and returning to the UK show as a permanent judge in 2012.

"I'm not going to lie, I felt like coming to town and joining the show - I didn't get the warmest reception," Scherzinger told ITV's Daybreak of! joining The X Factor.

"So now to be embraced and to know that people get my sense of humour and get my quirkiness and see the passion that I put into the show, it feels really good and it does feel like I've bounced back like a boomerang."

She added: "My first week here I was depressed because of the weather. My second week here I was ready to move here. I loved it that much.

"I feel like I can be myself here, more myself, everybody gets my wit, my sense of humour. I'm kind of off the wall and so are they. I know it's crazy to say it but I feel like they embrace that here."

Of how she bounces back from her problems, Scherzinger said: "You cry and you scream and you stomp your feet and you shout.

"You say, 'You know what, I'm giving up, I don't care'. And then you go to bed and you wake up and it's a brand new day, and you pick yourself back up again."

She continued: "I was shooting the video [for 'Boomerang'] and I was like getting frustrated and then I was like, 'No, I'm a boomerang, you can throw me out and the harder I'll come back around'. I can take a hit but you can't scratch my name. I'm a boomerang."
