Undercover! Simon Cowell Hired Nicole Scherzinger As 'His Spy' On UK X Factor

After being axed from the US X Factor just six months earlier, Nicole Scherzinger was a bit of a 'shock choice' in terms of being taken on as a judge on the UK version. However, now the reason behind her hiring has been revealed... she's Simon Cowell's spy!

Now Magazine have revealed that Nicole's comeback is all down to her new 'undercover role' and Simon has reportedly taken on the US singer/judge 'to keep an eye on the other judges' to which she will then 'give feedback' to Cowell over in the US. He'll then give feedback on ways to improve the talent show. Sneaky!

"Nicole's been confiding in her team that Simon wants her to be his eyes and ears," says an insider.

"He'll be asking her for the lowdown on how the judges are performing because he wants it to be the best series yet."

And fellow judges Louis Walsh, Tulisa and Gary Barlow are well aware that there is always room for improvement, it seems.

"Tulisa feels she gave the series an edge last year when Kelly Rowland didn't live up to expectations, but it's a different ball game now", the source adds.

"You're only as good as the last show"

And Simon has already caused tension amongst the latest line up of judges it's been revealed, as he's reportedly 'promised' Mel B a role on next year's series, after she impressed him during her guest judge stint.

"The other judges seem paranoid about which of them will be axed to make way for her," says the insider.

And apparently the 'real drama' will kick off as soon as the live shows start...

"Tulisa's down-to-earth and her dressing room's open to all," says the insider, "but Nicole's a diva."

"At the auditions she had extra security and her dre! ssing room was in lockdown. Clearly they won't be best pals."

Ohhh, only time will tell...
