The singer's role as a judge on the Fox competition was recently reported to have ended.

Scherzinger took to her Twitter account to confirm: "I wanted to let you know directly from me that it's true I won't be returning to The X Factor."

She also thanked her fans and said that she was excited about future projects throughout the year.

"Looking forward to an exciting year ahead and making great music and more! I'm grateful for the love you always give me," she tweeted.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer had previously hinted at an exit from the series, stating that she wanted to release new material soon.

Scherzinger was criticised following Rachel Crow's exit from the series, for choosing to send the results to deadlock after struggling to choose which contestant should go home.
