Paula Abdul outshines X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger in a slashed-to-the-waist dress

Paula Abdul brought a whole new meaning to the term 'slashed dress' last night.
The X Factor USA judge bared an entire leg as her gown was cut from the waist down to the floor.
During an appearance on American entertainment show Extra, she clearly stole the limelight from fellow talent show panellist Nicole Scherzinger - 16 years her junior.

Simon Cowell's former flame Terri Seymour, who hosts the show with Saved By The Bell actor Mario Lopez, was also overshadowed by Abul.
Despite her efforts to dazzle in a red dress, she looked utterly average next to the captivating bejewelled basque gown that looked like it was on loan from a Disney princess.

The former Pussycat Doll, 33, looked typically waif-like and chic in a black leather dress, but the one-shouldered garment was a little predictable and lacked the 'wow' factor of Abdul, 49.
As the gang were interviewed for the pre-recorded show, X Factor USA host Steve Jones looked a little out of place and hovered like a spare part on the last stool of the row.
Placed in the middle, Cowell and Abdul flirted and laughed together while Scherzinger chattered with LA Reid.

Cowell, 52, finally joined the 21st century this week, setting himself up with a Twitter account.
So far he has accrued just over 300,000 followers and is following 11 himself - notably Cheryl Cole is not on the list.
Within hours of joining the socia! l networ king site, Cowell came to blows with his former Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan, who currently fronts nightly US chat show Tonight on rival station CNN.

After Simon quipped he should 'look up the word 'deluded' in your dictionary', Piers retorted: 'Still 1.3million followers behind me. As you would tell a contestant: "Theres a LOT of work to do, luv."'
Last night, hopeful Stacy Francis became the latest casualty of the show as she was sent home.
Teenage rapper Astro, 15, was saved after landing in the bottom two with Francis.
